Last Poets Interview on Blackstonian Radio

Last Wednesday Scope fam Jamarhl Crawford of the Blackstonian linked with Abiodun Oyewole and Umar Bin Hassan of the legendary Last Poets to talk about the group’s history and formation, the origin and inspiration for some of their best known poems, their relationship with the late Gil Scott-Heron and some of their current work and features with Nas, Common, Dead Prez and the “Tongues on Fire” documentary tribute to the black panthers with In Living Color and art by Black Panther Minister of Culture Emory Douglas. The 45 minute in depth interview comes a few weeks before we bring the Last Poets to Boston to perform a live show on June 16.
